The Illini Bluffs Tigers advanced out of the first round of the Macomb-Western Holiday Tournament for the fourth consecutive year, topping the Canton Little Giants 68-41.

After an even start, Illini Bluffs (7-3) closed the opening quarter with a 16-5 burst for a 21-11 advantage. Cam Scott made sure the lead would stick. He poured in 14 points in the second quarter alone as the Tigers’s lead ballooned to 26 at halftime, 46-19.

Scott finished with 20 points, canned seven of 15 field goal attempts in just 21 minutes of action. Illini Bluffs enjoys a 21-4 edge in points off turnovers and 13-4 in fast break points. They also received a game game from Braden Cox, who registered nine points and nine rebounds.

Caleb Miller led Canton (3-5) with nine points and nine boards. The Little Giants will play next in the consolation round at 1:00 pm Friday versus the losing team from the Macomb/Lewistown game. Illini Bluffs moves on to the quarterfinals where they will play the winner of that game at 8:00 pm.
