The Jacksonville Crimsons bounced back from a heartbreaking loss in the first round to move on in the consolation bracket, outscoring Liberty in every quarter of their 46-29 victory. The inexperienced Eagles battled hard, but could not overcome 28 turnovers and 20 percent shooting.

Jacksonville (2-10) sprinted to an 8-0, but then went cold, scoring only four points over the next nine minutes of action. Liberty crept back into the game, getting within 12-9 past the midpoint of the second quarter. Will Peak netted five points late in the half to push the Crimson advantage to 18-12 at intermission.

Jacksonville once again had the better of the play in the third quarter, but they could not put the Eagles (1-12) away. Liberty managed only four made field goals in the first 24 minutes, but was only down by eight points heading into the final quarter.

Unfortunately for the Eagles, they never could get their attack going. Despite only scoring two points in the first three minutes, Liberty was still with eight until Zack Rose took a brilliant behind-the-back feed from Zach Belford to gain a 35-25 lead with 4:43 to play. The Jacksonville lead was in double digits the rest of the way.

Liberty did a good job getting to the line, outscoring the Crimsons 17-8 at the free throw stripe. The Eagles were led by Jordan Neisen, who exemplified the Eagles effort on the day, scoring all ten of his points on free throws and grabbing six rebounds.

Rose tallied a game-high 16 points, followed by Peak with 15 to pace Jacksonville. Belford recorded nine rebounds, seven assists, and three steals in an all-around effort by the junior guard.

Jacksonville will take on Rockridge in a consolation bracket semifinal game Saturday morning at 9:00 in Brophy Hall on the WIU campus.
