The Jacksonville Crimsons defeated the Rockridge Rockets in the consolation bracket semifinal 30-21.  Jacksonville led 16-15 at the half, and held Rockridge to only six second half points.

Jacksonville was led by Zack Rose’s 14 points on 5-of-9 from the floor.  Jacksonville also had seven points from Zach Belford and six from Will Peak.  Jacksonville shot just 27% from the floor for the game, but shot 5-for-15 from the 3-point line.

Rockridge was led in scoring by Jacob Hilkin’s seven points.  Michael Griffin and Dalton wolf both added five points.  Cody Bush finished with four points.  Like Jacksonville, Rockridge also had a rough time shooting in this one.  They finished 8-of-38 for 21.1%.

Jacksonville’s 30 points is the lowest winning score in the tournament since Pittsfield defeated Camp Point Central by a score of 29-28 in the consolation bracket in 2012.  After many years of holding the consolation bracket semifinals at Macomb High’s gym, this was the first game of the day at Brophy Hall on the campus of WIU.

Jacksonville advances to the consolation final against Canton, to be played tonight at 5:00 at Western Hall.  Jacksonville will be looking for a trophy in their first return appearance in the tournament.
