In the day’s second game at Brophy Hall in the consolation bracket, the Canton Little Giants defeated the Illini West Chargers 50-47.  Canton hit a three pointer with mere seconds left on the clock to avoid what had a chance to be the tournament’s first overtime game.

Canton was led in scoring by Garrett Brant with 19 points.  Jake Smith added eight.  Caleb Miller dished a game high nine assists.  The Little Giants shot 11-for-18 (61%) from the three-point line.

Illini West had two players finish in double figures:  Jackson Porter with 20 and Kennedy Gooding with 15.  Porter added 5 assists and Gooding pulled down 12 rebounds.  The Chargers shot 50% from the floor for the game.

Illini West outscored Canton 18-9 in the third quarter, but it was Canton’s turn in the fourth as they outscored Illini West 14-8.

Canton advances to the consolation championship to face Jacksonville.  The game is at 5:00 at Western Hall.
