Macomb and Farmington know each other very well.  These former conference rivals have had many a memorable game in their programs’ histories.  This night was no exception.  After jumping out early and building a lead that was at one point 39-18 with 2:38 left in the third quarter, Farmington would surrender 17 straight points to Macomb.

The Farmers would eventually stop the bleeding by draining a three pointer with 2:42 left in the fourth quarter.  That would wake up the Farmers, who would hold on to win the fifth-place trophy by a score of 50-42.

Farmington was led by a pair of double digit scorers of 21 and 19 points by Nick Johnson and Jakob Uryasz respectively.  Those two Farmers would combine to shoot 15-for-27 from the floor.  Farmington had 24 points off turnovers to Macomb’s 13.  They also shot well from the charity stripe, as the team combined to shoot 7-for-8.  These Farmers like to run!  They had 15 fast break points to the Bombers’ four.

Macomb was led in both points and rebounds by Carter Fayhee with 15 and eight respectively.  Other double-digit scorers included Ben Higgins with 11 and John Fuhr with 10.  Macomb won the rebounding battle over Farmington 21-19.  Macomb excelled in the paint, where they outscored the Farmers 28 to 18.

Farmington’s last trophy round appearance was as recent as last year, when they finished in fourth place in a close loss to West Hancock 47-45.
