Illini Central Tournament Trivia:

Last year Illini Central picked up their first opening round victory since 2005 with a 54-51 win over West Hancock

The 76 points Illini Central surrendered in their opening-round loss last year to Metamora (76-46) was the most points given up in a tournament game by the Cougars since a 1996 loss to Warsaw (79-65).

The Cougars are 2-8 in their last four tournaments.

Last year was only the second time since 1998 the Cougars have gone 0-2 in the tournament (2007).

The squad from Mason City nearly notched their first tournament championship under the Illini Central High School name when the Cougars came back to force overtime in 2002, but fell short to Canton. Mason City High School (now part of Illini Central) won the title during an 8-team event in 1950.

David McGinnis (1990) is the record-holder for most points scored in a tournament (129) and the only Cougar to be named tournament MVP.
