West
Hancock Tournament Trivia:
|
| West Hancock is a co-op
between Hamilton and Warsaw/Nauvoo-Colusa
high schools and was established in
basketball in 2008. The West Hancock
co-op has been in place for football
since 2004. Since forming the West
Hancock co-op in 2008, the Titans are 6-4
in the tournament securing two
consolation championships.
West
Hancock is still searching for their
first opening round win.
Last year,
the Titans went two-and-out. It was the
first time that either West Hancock or
the schools that form the co-op went
two-and-out since both Hamilton and
Warsaw went winless in the 2004
tournament.
Hamilton
picked up two wins in their final year as
a solo tournament entry. It was the first
time they had won two tournament games
since 2002.
Over the
years, Warsaw had three players named MVP
of the tournament:
Jason Edwin (1998)
Billie Bavery (1991)
Steve Rothert (1985)
Despite
two tournament titles, Hamilton never had
a player named Tourney MVP.
Since the
turn of the century, teams making their
debut into the tournament field have
fared rather well. Those six teams:
Southern ('01), Rock Falls ('03), South
Fulton ('05), Monmouth-Roseville ('05),
Pleasant Plains ('06),
Warsaw/Nauvoo-Colusa ('06), and Western
('07); earned a combined record of 13-9
in their inaugural tourney season.
