The “Coltin Quagliano Show” continued in the 1st game of the Consolation semifinal game as the Wethersfield Geese (8-4) pulled out the 43-38 victory against the Lewistown Indians (7-7). A valiant comeback in the 2nd half for the Indians came up just short. The 2nd quarter was the difference in the game as Wethersfield’s defense only allowed 3 points in that quarter. Wethersfield will be looking for some hardware in their 1st year at the Macomb-Western Holiday Tournament. The low scoring affair had Lewistown ahead after the 1st quarter with a slim lead of 7-6. Though it was short lived as Wethersfield never looked back in the 2nd quarter & led the rest of the game. Wethersfield’s Coltin Quagliano led all scorers with 23 points on 8-19 shooting (2-6 3PT). Lewistown’s leading scorer was John Ross Hess with 12 points. Kennedy Cleer of Lewistown had a game high 10 rebounds. Wethersfield limited the mistakes in the game committing only 10 turnovers & Wethersfield’s defense stepped up in this close game by forcing 16 Lewistown turnovers. The free throw shooting was also a difference in the game. Wethersfield went to the charity stripe for 20 attempts compared to 4 total chances for Lewistown.
