The Rockridge Rockets used three double-digit scorers and efficient shooting to slide past the West Hancock Titans by a score of 49-38. Landon Bull got his first of 18 points just 16 seconds into this one and Rockridge would not give up the lead the rest of the game. Many of the counting stats were actually a toss-up in this contest. Turnovers were 14-13, rebounds were 22-21, and points in the paint were 14-12. But Rockridge hit a blistering 9-of-19 (47.4%) from the three-point line compared to West Hancock’s 5-for-16 (31.3%) from the beyond the same arc. Another deciding factor: ball movement. Rockridge had a near perfect 15 assists on their 16 field goals. Rockridge’s coach Jordan Harris should be very proud of that stat in particular.
The Rockets (11-3) advance to the tournament’s Championship, where they last won in 2019. They were led in scoring by a trio of double-digit scorers: Landon Bull’s 18, Caleb Cunico’s 13, and Carson Klemme’s 10. TJ Wilson had a game-high eight rebounds and Klemme pulled down another six. Bull and Wilson each had four assists.
West Hancock (11-3) had 16 points from Lewis Siegfried, who has already had a very impressive tournament. Gavin Grothaus added 10 more points and had a team-high three assists. Cooper Knowles led his team with six rebounds off the bench.
Rockridge will play tonight at 9:30pm in the Championship game vs the winner of Macomb and Camp Point Central. West Hancock will compete in the Third Place game at 8:00pm against the loser of that same game.
