2024 Game 10 Recap: Liberty 49, Farmington 32

The Liberty Eagles started hot in this one and scored the first 14 points of the game.  The Farmers of Farmington found themselves in that early hole and tried all game to claw back, but the Eagles reminded them that they’re the ones with the talons.  Liberty’s largest lead was 22 points with 2:52 left in the 3rd quarter, but Farmington outscored them 13-2 from the bench and also the 4th quarter tally 9-6.

The Eagles were led in scoring and rebounding by Reed Sparrow’s 20 points and 10 rebounds.  His brother Jack Sparrow was second in both categories with 19 points and nine rebounds.  The brothers also combined to shoot 10/11 from the free throw line.  Tannel Cooley and Tate Huber both led the game with three assists.  Huber’s three steals led both teams.

Farmington’s leading scorer was Jack Gronewold’s nine points.  Landon Crawford added eight points for the Farmers.  Boston Smith was coming off a first-round performance against Peoria Christian where he had 22 points and 12 rebounds, but was held in check by the Eagles to the tune of eight points and two rebounds.  Farmington led Liberty 22-16 on points in the paint and tied them in second chance points 10-10.

Liberty (8-4) continues in the tournament and will face Brown County in the consolation bracket semifinals.  That game will be held Saturday morning at 9:00am in Brophy Hall in Game 17.  Farmington (3-8) has been eliminated.
