2024 Game 11 Recap: Canton 44, Pittsfield 30

Tournament veterans clashed in this consolation quarterfinal and the Little Giants of Canton prevailed over the Pittsfield Saukees by a score of 44-30.  The game was an early morning adventure, with the teams combining for dismal 37 turnovers and a field goal percentage of 36.1%.  Canton never trailed and distanced themselves with an 11-point run in the 1st quarter.  The Saukees mounted a small comeback in the final quarter, but didn’t do themselves any favors at the charity stripe.  Pittsfield shot just 7/24 (29.2%) from the free throw line.

The Little Giants were led by Lakon Otto’s game-high 23 points, five rebounds, and two assists on 3/6 shooting beyond the arc and 6/7 at the foul line.  Miles Hoops pitched in nine points and Logan Nichols added eight.  Colin Johnson swiped a team-high three steals.  Canton capitalized on turnovers at a higher clip than Pittsfield, to the tune of 14-5 points off of turnovers.

The leading scorer on the Saukees was Taylor Graham’s 10 points.  Hayden Gratton was second on the team in scoring with eight points.  Gratton and Clayton Reinhardt each pulled down five rebounds.  Reinhardt also picked three steals.

Canton (5-7) advances to the consolation semifinals where they will matchup with the winner of Bushnell-Prairie City and Abingdon-Avon.  That will take place in Brophy Hall, Saturday morning at 10:30am in Game 18.  Pittsfield has been eliminated from the tournament.
