The Titans of Monmouth-Roseville handed a 44-30 loss to Abingdon-Avon to advance to the consolation title game. The Tornadoes tripped out of the starting gate, scoring just five in the first quarter and six in the second quarter. After Monmouth-Roseville had a big 18 point outburst in the third quarter, this game was out of reach. This game was held in Brophy Hall, just across the street from the primary tournament court at Western Hall.
Nothing was falling for Abingdon-Avon in this one. None more evident than Easten Schisler – who had a solid tournament to date – going 3-for-18 from the floor, including 0-for-7 from behind the 3-point line.
The Titans were led in scoring and rebounding by Ben Anderson, who had 15 points and 13 rebounds in an impressive double-double performance. Connor Thompson was second on the team with six points, but led the game in assists with five. It wasn’t all roses for the Titans, who shot an abysmal 3-for-16 from the free throw line. That trend will need to change if they hope to win the consolation title.
Abingdon-Avon’s Parker Stoneking led the team with 10 points. Asa Stegall had 10 rebounds, coming off the bench and playing 24 minutes.
Monmouth-Roseville advances to the consolation title game to play Brown County in Game 23. Abingdon-Avon’s tournament has ended.
