Game 6 Recap: Macomb 58, Lewistown 39

The Macomb Bombers (2-8) scored a season-high 58 en route to a first round win over the Indians of Lewistown (6-6) by a score of 58-39.  Lewistown led after the first frame 11-10.  At the half, Macomb had a slim four point lead 24-20.  They would not relinquish the lead.

Macomb’s bench outscored Lewistown’s 15-2 and the Bombers also won the rebound battle 28-16.  Lewistown did not miss a free throw in this game and finished 7-7 from the charity stripe.  The difference in this game was Macomb’s second half shooting, where they shot 11-17 (65%) to pull away.

Macomb was led by Sam Allen, who currently has the tournament-high with 18 points.  The Bombers also received 13 from Tyler Bickers and eight points from Adam Farr.  Farr also added eight rebounds and four blocks.

Lewistown’s balance scoring attack included three players with nine points each (Drake Herrick, John Ross Hess, and Kruze Chasteen) and one player with eight points (Kennedy Cleer).  Cleer led the Indians in rebounding with five and assists with three.

Macomb moves on to face a familiar foe (and longtime conference rival) Farmington in Game 15 (tomorrow, 8:00pm).  Lewistown will continue to play in the Consolation bracket in Game 11 (tomorrow, 1:00pm) against Illini West.
