In Western Hall’s early game on Day 3, the Rockets of Rockridge cruised to a 61-42 victory over the Panthers of Camp Point Central. Rockridge was hungry after their loss to Farmington last night and Camp Point Central was in their crosshairs. The Rockets came out of the gate strong, leading 12-3 after the first quarter and 26-13 at the half. Rockridge led wire-to-wire and outrebounded the Panthers 23-13.
Camp Pt Central swatted away five steals to Rockridge’s one and matched them in the paint 28-28. The Panthers also shot an impressive 61.9% from the floor in the second half, but was unable to overcome the lopsided first two frames. Rockridge shot 60.5% for the entire game, doing a majority of their damage from in the paint. They also hit 9-of-10 from the free throw line. A solid all-around performance from the tournament’s #1 seed.
The Rockets were once again led by reigning MVP Nate Henry with 19 points. Two other Rockridge players finished with double-digits: Landon Bull (11) and TJ Wilson (10). Bull also led the game with five rebounds. Brayden Deem had a team-high four assists.
The Panthers’s scoring attack was fronted by a duo of double-digit scorers in Nick Moore (14) and Breyhar Wiskirchen (10). Isaac Genenbacher turned in eights points and a team-leading four rebounds, three assists, and two steals.
Rockridge advances to the 5th place Game 24, which will occur at 6:30pm against the winner of Pittsfield/Lewistown. The Panthers have been eliminated with their second loss.
